The Rug Company – Thistle Gold
In partnership with Vivienne Westwood, the Rug Company’s Thistle Gold modern rug depicts an abstract graphic of the regal milk thistle. The beautiful design is hand-knotted with silk yarns on a Tibetan wool background, pairing pale rose and golden tones. Perch Linear Suspension Light Fixture
Moooi creates modern pendant lighting, lamps, and a unique array of suspension lighting. Moooi was founded by Marcel Wanders and first presented in 2001. If you haven’t had a chance to visit the Moooi site, I highly recommend you do. It’s an hypnotic experience, unlike any other website you may encounter.
This is what Marcel does best – he creates products and environments that are ethereal and, by extension, transformative. It’s ironically fitting that we selected a Moooi light fixture to launch our Meditation Room design series. Back in 2011, I had the most unexpected opportunity to meet Mr. Wanders at the London Design Festival. He was a featured speaker, and I was a guest of Veronika Miller, taking part in her groundbreaking event, the Modenus Blogtour 2011. What is ironic about this particular lighting selection is that my daughter, Melissa Cummings (a real estate agent in Orange County, California), recommended it to me recently, exactly a decade from my initial introduction to the world of Marcel. There is no doubt his work and collaborations stand the test of time.
